My Head

(Music and lyrics by Scott Ryan)

Once I thought I'd found a way out of my head,
But much to my chagrin it merely led
          To somewhere else inside my head.
Guess I'll be stuck inside my head until I'm dead.

Once I thought I'd made some headway on the past,
But much to my chagrin it didn't last:
          There right behind me was the past.
I don't know how it catches up with me so fast.

Once I thought I had let go of all my haste;
I was sure I'd overcome it as I chased
          To get some distance on my haste,
But when I raced against my haste I was outpaced.

Once I thought I'd locked my keys inside my car;
At last I noticed that I'd left one door ajar
          So I got back inside my car.
If you think you're stuck outside your car, I guess you are.

Once I thought I'd found a way back to my head,
But much to my chagrin it merely led
          To somewhere else outside my head.
Guess I'll be stuck outside my head until I'm dead.
Guess I'll be stuck outside my head until I'm dead.
Guess I'll be stuck outside my head until I'm dead.
